IMDb Top 250 就像地球上的气候和季节，它是一个时刻会变化的榜单，随时间变化，它并非只有一个固定状态，并非只有一成不变的250部。这份权威榜单，每日 / 周 / 月 / 年都在变化着，有新片会闯入榜单，会有旧片在榜单消失，有新片会昙花一现，也会有旧片枯木逢春。自这份榜单诞生以来，据统计也有接近千部佳作，在不同时期成功闯入IMDb Top 250 佳片榜。
成功闯入IMDb Top 250佳片榜并不容易，至少要满足两个基本条件： 1. 评分达2.5万人次以上； 2. 评分至少在8.0分以上；每年能成功闯入IMDb Top 250佳片榜，都是屈指可数。
